Hi, I'm Denise Welsh
I use hypnosis personally and professionally because hypnotherapy is amazing for creating positive thoughts and actions. So many people I meet are talented and successful, even if they don't realise it. Unfortunately, most of us have a voice inside, saying "You haven't done enough" or "You are not enough". This is a setup for struggle in all areas requiring self-belief ... for example supportive relationships, career success, weight control, and self confidence.
My passion is to help people move beyond struggle to make the most of their potential.
What's my philosophy?
As the world changes faster than ever before, the scale and pace of change can be unsettling. Increased levels of anxiety and stress can be the result. I feel it's important to ride the wave of change confidently because humanity is evolving.
And I believe each person has special talents, and it is right for us to find and use those talents - for ourselves, and to help humankind move onward!
How I got here
My father came from India. After studying in London he became an aerospace engineer. My mother was evacuated from London to a countryside foster home. After the war, she returned to her mother's shop and bohemian lifestyle in Chelsea. My parents met, married and after my arrival, they traveled to Canada and then America.
Considering my life in the light of my parents' experience, I know I grew up in a world of expansive possibilities. But as expats, my parents didn't really know how to help me fit into their new surroundings. It was up to me to find my place.
Our family friends were also foreigners, so I grew comfortable hearing differing voices. Their stories were compelling and what I learned from them was this: by being at ease in yourself, you can be comfortable wherever you are.
Surprise! My teen years were challenging, as I began relating socially and found myself timid about interacting with others. The habits I developed to cover my fears become problematic - like binge eating and a tendency to withdraw.
Since then, I have learned to live life fully and to venture beyond reclusiveness. Stepping out into the world, I'm having my coming-out party now.
Professionally, I've had inspiring teachers. Norman Vaughton is my mentor in psychobiology. Through his work, I became interested in neuroplasticity, and the work of people like Elaine Aron, and Gabor Mate. I've studied with EFT Master Judy Byrne and since 2006, I've studied the Spanish tradition of Kabbalah with Warren Kenton.
My Geek qualities:
I Love: CGI magic; Jila Peacock's film - Tongue of the Hidden; Cecil Collins' paintings; The Producers with Zero Mostel
I am: A Big Star Trek fan; a Cuban Ballet groupie; a follower of She'Koyokh Klezmer Ensemble; mesmerised by spiders building webs
